I Am an Orange Dot’s performance, Failsworth, June 2023
How the work started
I pondered on issues around migration and displacement for a long time before I began to write about the pressure that is forcing people to risk everything and immerse themselves in a deadly stretch of water just to be safe. ‘I Am an Orange Dot’ is the monologue that resulted from these concerns.
Previous showing
‘I Am an Orange Dot’ was performed as work in progress: in 2019 as a solo show at Emergency 2019 at Z arts, Manchester; in 2020 as a short film screened at the International Women's Day Film Festival, Futureworks School of Media, Manchester; in 2020 as a published monologue at With Bread, Leo Burtin and Guests, Leo Burtin and in 2022 as a solo show at Stockport Central Library, Stockport.
The piece grew with each performance or showing. Now ‘I Am an Orange Dot’ is ready to be shared as a completed work with audiences at different cities. The first stop of the national tour of ‘I Am an Orange Dot’ was at Failsworth Library, Failsworth in June 2023 (see pictures below).
